There are many opportunities for community service through the Caltech Y. From tutoring area middle and high school students for a couple hours right on campus, to a variety of one day projects like Union Station, Chancellor Place and Reading to Kids in the local community, to our multi-day Alternative Spring Break Trips in two states and Mexico, the Y offers a range of projects that fit your schedule and interest. We also offer resources for those looking to set up individual projects with service agencies in the area, such as agency information and contacts, and our Y community service cars for those needing transportation to a project site. For agency information visit the Y to check out our Agency Resource database.
For a complete list of Community Service projects planned to date, visit the Calendar section of this website. To receive regular email announcements of up coming projects, join the Community Service Email List.
The Community Service Committee is open to any students interested in helping to plan and lead community service projects. Students from the committee coordinate each of our on going Community Service programs. For more information, contact the
Community Service Chair.
For those of you who are eligible to receive Federal Work Study as part of your financial aid package, you may also use your Federal Work Study dollars toward community service. All Y community service programs are approved sites as are many of the agencies listed in the Agency Resource Guide. For more information on Federal Work Study options, visit us at the Y.
