Caltech Y – Costa Rica - Alternative Spring Break Trip 2018

Applications are due Wednesday, November 22nd at noon

The Caltech Y is seeking applicants for our 2018 Alternative Spring Break trip.  Join other Caltech Students for an adventure on one of our non-traditional spring break experiences in Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.  The trip will include opportunities for volunteer work as well as relaxation and adventure… not to mention making new friends with other Caltech students.  Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to explore a new place, have fun, and make a tangible difference in the world.

Purpose:

The Caltech Y Alternative Spring Break Program is designed to place Caltech students, faculty and staff in various communities to engage in volunteer service and experiential learning. Participants gain a broader understanding of the world around them while at the same time making a tangible difference in the community.

Overview:

  • ASB trips focus on service and education in addition to fun

  • ASB are group/team trips – most, if not all, of the trip is spent with the group

  • Food and lodgings are for the most part rough / rustic – no hotels of fine dining… hostels or camping, with meals often prepared by the group.

  • Costs include your transportation, lodging, and most food.  Added costs for food while traveling, travel documents and insurance, optional outings, and personal spending may be incurred.

    * Participant fees are subsidized, however additional assistance may be still be available for those with a financial
hardship. Additional funding should not be individually sought on campus without prior consent from the Caltech Y.
